The
Duke of Edinburgh Award began in the UK in 1956 but has since developed
and been adapted by more than 100 countries around the world.
The Award provides young people with a balanced, non-competitive
programme of voluntary activities that encourage personal discovery and
growth, self reliance, perseverance, responsibility to themselves and
service to the community. This programme is available to participants between the ages of 14 and 25.
